The Vice Chancellor of Muni university Professor Christine Dranzoa and Mukundane Moses, Programs Director Research & Knowledge Development AfriChild after signing the MOU at Muni University

Muni University and AfriChildCentre have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in design and implementation of in-service research training and mentorship for the Faculty Staff of Muni University.This collaboration seeks to strengthen the capacity of Faculty Staff in ongoing rigorous research undertakings towards enhancing the evidence base on child protection and development in Uganda.

The ultimate aim of the collaboration is to build a cohort of skilled researchers to undertake rigorous research to inform child focused policies and programs in Africa.

This partnership commenced on 20th February 2020, the day the agreement was signed and is expected to run till 19th February 2023, with a possibility of extension based on mutual agreement of all parties and availability of funds.

Whereas AfriChildCentre is expected to seek funding opportunities for implementing the training and mentorship program,institutionalise the trainings within the university program,organise in service training for faculty members and identify opportunities for research and link trainees to ongoing research initiatives among others,Muni University on the other hand is expected to  collaborate with AfriChild in proposal development, seek funding for the training and mentorship activities,identify and support faculty members who are qualified and have interest in child focused research uptake to apply for participation in in-service research methods training,support trainees to publish research findings, and identify opportunities for research and link trainees to on-going research initiatives at the university.
