The Faculty of Health Sciences became autonomous in 2020. It had been under the Faculty of Technoscience since 2016, when its first programme, the Bachelor of Nursing Science, began. Assoc. Prof. Richard Mangwi Ayiasi, its first Dean, leads it again today.
The faculty has three departments — Nursing and Midwifery, Public Health and Medical Laboratory Sciences — and serves both settled and refugee communities. Students learn in the classroom, at Arua Regional Referral Hospital and the regional blood bank, and in communities across West Nile: domiciliary care for mothers and babies, immunisation and family-planning outreach, school health and HIV testing. The Bachelor of Midwifery Science (Completion) was accredited in 2024/2025 and admits its first students in 2025/2026.
