The Faculty of Science was established by the Muni University Council in 2018 and has four departments: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. It gives students in-depth knowledge of the fundamental sciences through teaching, faculty-supervised research, innovation projects and community outreach.
About 80% of the faculty’s academic staff hold PhDs, and many others are studying for doctorates at universities worldwide. Its research and innovation aim to improve livelihoods and protect the environment in the face of degradation, disease, climate change and energy and food shortages. The Department of Physics hosts the Max Planck–Humboldt Research Unit.
