The Faculty of Technoscience was the first faculty established by the University Council, in 2014, to train technologists and engineers. It spearheads the technoscience philosophy of Making Things Work by placing teaching and learning, research and innovation, and community outreach in the context of solving problems in society.
The faculty follows the Triple Helix model, engaging industry and Government — local, national, regional and international — to stimulate innovative and sustainable socio-economic development. Teaching is blended: online and virtual lectures with practical sessions on campus, a ten-week community engagement placement for first-year students and ten-week industrial training for the second and third years. Programmes in Electrical Engineering and Automation and in Mechanical and Materials Engineering are being accredited by the National Council for Higher Education.
