Muni University Cultural Gala Ignites Unity, Talent and Heritage in a Spectacular Showcase

Muni University burst into color, rhythm, and cultural pride during a vibrant Cultural Gala held on 28th February 2026 at the University Main Campus in Aruain, bringing together students from diverse backgrounds in a powerful celebration of unity and heritage. The event stood as a true reflection of the university’s commitment to nurturing talent, promoting inclusivity, and celebrating cultural identity.

Students, grouped under their respective associations, delivered captivating performances through traditional dances, attire, and language, creating an unforgettable cultural experience. The participating associations included Baganda Nkobazambogo Muni University Students Association (BANKOSA), Banyakitara Muni University Students Association (BASAMU), Muni University Eastern Students Association (MUESA), Muni University Luo Students Association (MULSA), Muni University Madi Students Association (MUMSA), and Muni University West Nile Students Association (MUWESA).

To ensure fairness and professionalism, adjudicators evaluated performances based on clear criteria: rendition of the university anthem, traditional folk song, dress code, and traditional folk dance. This comprehensive approach highlighted not only creativity but also discipline and cultural authenticity.

After a thrilling competition, Baganda Nkobazambogo Muni University Students Association (BANKOSA) emerged as the overall winner with 338 points and was proudly awarded a trophy in recognition of their outstanding performance. Muni University Luo Students Association (MULSA) followed closely in second place with 335 points, while Muni University West Nile Students Association (MUWESA) secured third place with 331 points. Muni University Madi Students Association (MUMSA), Banyakitara Muni University Students Association (BASAMU), and Muni University Eastern Students Association (MUESA) took the fourth, fifth, and sixth positions respectively. All participating groups were recognized and walked away with different prizes in appreciation of their effort, creativity, and cultural representation.

Adjudicator Cosmic Womola reassured participants that the competition was judged fairly by professionals, encouraging students to trust the results. He emphasized that while all performances were commendable, excellence depended on packaging, including coordination, costume selection, and stage presentation.

In her absence, a message from the Dean of Students was delivered by Mr. Moses Eteru. Madam Amandra Stella, applauded the 10th Guild leadership for organizing a colorful and impactful event. She noted that the Cultural Gala promotes unity in diversity and commended university management for supporting student-driven initiatives. She further underscored that culture goes beyond performance, shaping values, behavior, and the moral compass of society.

The 10th Guild President, Mungueconi Stephen, expressed gratitude to the University Management and all participating associations for contributing to the success of the event.

The Minister of Gender and Culture- Lugbara Kari, Suzan Ezatia encouraged students to embrace and nurture their talents, avoid negative peer pressure, and recognize the opportunities that cultural expression can unlock. She reminded participants that while competition produces a winner, every culture represented is equally valuable and deserving of celebration.
