A delegation from the Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat in the Office of the President met University leaders to plan the park, a common-user facility for research, processing and value addition.
Muni University welcomed a delegation from the Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat (STI-OP) under the Office of the President to plan West Nile’s first Agro-Science Industrial Park and Muni’s place in the national STI framework.
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) Prof. Jacob Agea set out the University’s land across West Nile as potential sites — including holdings at Yumbe, Pakwach, Maadi Okollo, Arua, Ayivu, Moyo and Koboko. The park will be a common-user facility where students and staff do hands-on research, industrial-scale production and value-chain analysis, processing farmers’ produce into market-ready products.
Prof. Robert Kajobe highlighted the region’s strengths in cassava, sesame, cocoa and shea, and the University’s ability to link research with value addition and processing.
