The new students — 321 Higher Education Certificate, 2,056 undergraduate and 438 graduate — were formally admitted and oriented across the University’s six faculties.
Muni University has concluded the admission and orientation of its 2,815 newly admitted students for the 2026/2027 academic year — another milestone for the only public university in Uganda’s West Nile sub-region, which began in 2013 with one faculty, the Faculty of Technoscience, and a pioneer class of fewer than a hundred students under its founding Vice Chancellor, the late Prof. Christine Dranzoa.
The intake comprises 321 Higher Education Certificate students, 2,056 undergraduates and 438 graduate students across the faculties of Education, Science, Management Science, Health Sciences, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and Technoscience.
The admission ceremony was presided over by the University Legal Officer, Mr. Samuel Ondoma, who took students through the Students’ Code of Conduct, the Guild Constitution and the University’s statutes. Academic Registrar Mr. Felix Opio then presented the qualified students for admission.
Welcoming them, Vice Chancellor Assoc. Prof. Simon Anguma Katrini urged the freshers to pursue excellence with discipline, integrity and purpose, and to seek help whenever they meet challenges. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) Prof. Jacob Agea described admission as “both a privilege and a responsibility”, warning against plagiarism and academic dishonesty, and the Dean of Students, Ms. Stella Amandru, encouraged self-respect, time management and active participation in University life.
Orientation, run in phases because of the size of the intake, introduced students to the academic, digital and support systems they will use — including the student portal and the MUELE e-learning platform.
